Hi,
This is my home page or rather where I hang a few pages of random information that I sometimes like to give people pointers to.
As the above picture probably shows I'm a forty something hacker. I use the term "hacker" in the old sense of "A person who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and how to stretch their capabilities" not the mindless vandals who enjoy breaking things for the sake of it.
I'm a dyed in the wool Unix hacker having started with AT&T V6 on the PDP11 at University and am currently a member of the Hampshire Linux Users Group and the UK Unix User Group.
I used to be the technical director of Chase Research a UK developer of serial cards and communications servers, but left shortly after the company was sold to new owners.
I've recently joined a new company ONELAN Ltd. working in a new field for me "Video in Public Places". Lots of fun with embeded Linux and MPEG2 playout engines.
Before that I worked for FarSite Communications developing Linux drivers for their X.25 products and some new X21 cards. I still try to support these products in my spare time.
When I'm not playing with computers my hobbies include gardening and pyrotechnics. Pyrotechnics is probably the more interesting of the two but is also the most expensive and I'm glad that I can subsidise my interest by working for Fantastic Fireworks on a occasional basis.
If these pages are looking a bit stale that's because they are. For a slightly more up to date version i.e. late 2005 rather than 2002 take a look at my new domain www.pinkhut.co.uk.
